<p>June is Men’s Health Month and summer is a great time to start a fitness plan. If your good health has not been a primary concern, take a moment to reflect on what you are doing for health and fitness in your life and see if you can make any changes for the better. </p>
<p>The American Heart Association reports that heart disease is still the leading cause of death among men in the United States. Men’s Health Month was created to heighten awareness of preventable health problems in men and boys. With a statistic that one in three men can expect to develop some form of cardiovascular disease before the age of 60, there is no better time than now to start a fitness routine.</p>
<p>Poway Samurai Martial Arts has several ways men can improve their health and fitness:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This Saturday February 27th starts “Bring a Friend to Class” day for the dojo. For one week, students can bring a friend to Qi Gong, Little Ninjas, Kids class, Adults class or Sword Class. The event starts Saturday February 27th and runs through Thursday March 4th.</p>
<p>Your friend can come to class and train with you for free that day. Please tell your friends and direct them to this blog post to learn more. You can bring more than one friend and you do not need to RSVP in advance, just bring them along!</p>

<p>What is often overlooked as more research is done into qigong and its health benefits, is that at its most base level, there is very little disagreement from eastern or western medical practitioners that this practice can increase range of motion, help induce relaxation, improves blood oxygen saturation which can help boost the immune system among other things, and improves joint flexibility and resilience.</p>

In clinical studies, advanced cancer patients who did Qi Gong exercises over two hours per day for three to six months, in combination with their drug therapy, showed significant improvement in their strength, appetite, digestion and immune function.</p>
