About Koto Ryu:

The school can be translated as “Knocking down the Tiger School”.
This is a Japanese martial art school that utilizes of koppojutsu, (骨法術) shurikenjutsu, and kenjutsu. This school specializes in using larger bones to strike weaker ones of your opponent. Koto ryu’s core is breaking the opponent’s balance, posture and movement using Tai Sabaki (to block and counter body movement), Kyushu (Attacking vulnerable points), attack to different heights, unexpected punches and deception. The two focus points of this school are first, disabling the opponent’s attacking abilities, and second is the creation of an entrance into the opponent’s weak points and posture.

About Takagi Yoshin Ryu:

The School can be translated as “Heart of the Willow Tree School”.
This school of Japanese martial arts was one of the original forms of samurai grappling, known as Jutaijutsu (more commonly referred to as jujutsu today). It is mostly recognized as a “Bodyguard School” that contains quick and effective jujutsu techniques, and daishosabaki (jujutsu while wearing two swords in the belt). Other techniques are based around bojutsu (using the 6′ staff).

Takagi Yoshin Ryu uses many techniques that appear similar to judo or aikido, but are applied in ways that make it difficult for the opponent to escape by rolling or breakfalling. These are close quarter techniques with the opponent held close.

About Dojocho Amanda Charrier:

Dojocho Amanda Charrier began training in 1996. She initially met Manaka Sensei at the first international Jinenkan seminar, which was held in the spring of 1997. Impressed with the attention to detail and respect given to proper fundamental movements, she shortly thereafter joined the Jinenkan.

In the years prior to Manaka Sensei’s announcement that he would be moving to America to live and teach for a time, she took trips to Japan to train with him. She was extremely fortunate to already be living in Baltimore when Manaka Sensei announced that Baltimore was the very city he had chosen to make his home for the duration of his time spent living in America. So from April of 2001 to May of 2004 she had the great fortune to live less than 10 miles from the Honbu dojo and Manaka Sensei.

Since Manaka Sensei has returned to Japan she travels there again to train with him, as well as to locations around America and Europe when he was teaching abroad. She received her dojocho license in March of 2004, just two months before Manaka Sensei returned to Japan.

This is the original martial arts workout boot camp. This is not just another exercise program. This is a workout regimen, a nutritional guide and personal transformation system.

Now, I know your asking yourself “What does that mean?”

Very simply put, the Fighting Fit Boot Camp method is going to show you how to use your own body weight in conjunction with a number of exercises and basic equipment, to give you the most complete fitness workout available. But that is just the beginning. We are going to give you critical information to help you meet your fitness goals and maintain them and provide assistance in changing your life.

You see, weight loss and fitness, while interrelated are not the same thing. A 200 lbs person who has low body fat and exercises regularly has different needs than someone who is 200 lbs from an improper diet and a lack of exercise. The Fighting Fit method scales to the fitness level of the individual while increasing your body’s capacity to do work. (Which is what working out is.)

Will you lose weight? Yes.

Will you build strength? Yes.

Will you look better? Yes.

Will you feel better? Yes.

Will your health improve? Yes.

Will it be easy? No! This is a system that while it scales to meet your goals, is going to require commitment and effort, physically, mentally and emotionally. It means your going to change your diet for one thing. You cannot out exercise a bad diet. Period. There is no quick fix or magic pill, no matter what you see on TV or what someone tries to sell you.

Will their be support? Yes.

Will this change your life? Yes!

Try 1 week FREE today! You’ll love the quick, effective workout and fast results. Call Coach Tony to learn more: #858-486-0059

One of our past Women’s Safety Class students called to ask if we can hold a special Women’s class for her co-workers because she learned so much, she wanted all other women she knew to learn these escape techniques. We wanted to let our students know about the “Tools for Personal Safety – Women’s Only Self Defense” class which will be held this Saturday 10/15/11 from 1 – 4pm.

Attendees should wear comfortable clothes and get ready to learn how to escape and avoid dangerous situations.

No martial arts school can teach you self defense in 3 hours, or even 1 day. The tools we offer demonstrated actual physical leverage techniques that can help anyone escape an attacker. We show you how to get away from someone who grabs you from behind, or by the arm and even if they have you pinned to the ground – you can learn how to easily roll them off (no matter their size or yours) and be able to run away.

No other martial arts school in Poway or San Diego teaches these techniques. You do not need any previous self defense training to learn the tools and you will be able to use them right away and practice them with the instructor.

In addition to the physical tools, we talk about safety and awareness tips so you can avoid dangerous situations all together.

We’d love to have you join us for this Women’s Safety Class. Please share this information with your: mother, wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, grandmother, friend, co-worker. Everyone can benefit from knowing these tools and it’s fun to attend the class with someone you know.

The “Tools for Personal Safety – Women’s only Self Defense” workshop will be held on October 15, 2011, from 1 – 4 pm at 13160 Poway Road (in the Library Plaza Shopping Center).

Fee: $30 per person. Those who bring a friend will save $5 per person.

Please wear comfortable clothes as you will be rolling on the floor and moving around. We offer a limited number of free sponsored spaces for women who have previously been battered or abused. Please call Tony to learn more #858-486-0059.

It was great to see the kids having fun demonstrating their practice, and to be able to talk about the history of our arts and their connection modern culture with their real life connection to Star Wars.

I want to thank the kids: Langston, Maddie, Jack, Kai and Jim and their parents again for helping and making this a very enjoyable presentation!

As seen on San Diego Living: Your kids will love Sword Training

The samurai of the sengoku jidai period of Japan were a major inspiration for the jidai-geki genre of Japanese films as well as the Jedi Knights™ of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise. So much so that it is clear to see the connection from the historical term “jidai” and the modern fictional counterparts. You can find out more about the connection here.

Kids Sword Training

The lessons, methods and arts of these heroic warriors that inspired imaginations, from a long time ago all the way until now, are available to a select few kids, who wish to apply and interview for one of the openings (with their parents permission).

This is a referral only program with limited space, that is only available to students who truly wish to apply themselves to learning these teachings and not all kids will be eligible.

Students must be referred by current students or after taking a free introductory lesson with the sensei (instructor).

If you or if you are a parent and you believe your child would be interested and benefit from a program that will cultivate:

Discipline

Focus

Confidence

Coordination

and Character to the highest degree

… and is part of a lineage and tradition that is nearly a millennia old, then please contact us for more information.

Space is extremely limited.

This is a weapons class. Kids will train with a “soft” sword. Equipment fees apply.
